Whether you’re launching a young company, are a veteran presenter of award-winning productions, or sit somewhere in between, The Applause Society can
help you maximise
your show’s attendance and exposure.
BOX OFFICE SOLUTIONS
Are you being asked to pay between RM3,000 and RM5,000 as set-up fees
just to sell tickets? Wincing from having another 3% of your
sales deducted as "commission"? And you've just learnt that your
audiences are charged an additional RM3 just to have their tickets printed?
Fight back!
Although the above fees might seem negligible to big-budget
productions charging high ticket prices, we know how prohibitive such
costs are for less-commercial presentations. Therefore, The Applause
Society offers a kiosk and online box office service with a fee
structure based on actual tickets sold with
- NO upfront set-up fees
- NO ticket-printing fees to patrons
Tickets are sold through the following channel:
- Art Tix at Annexe Gallery, a physical kiosk operating 7 days a week from 12pm-5:30pm
- online at applause.org.my
HOW IT WORKS :: Arts organisations and/or producers pay an annual
registration fee of RM100 (waived for 2009). The Society deducts 15%
of each ticket sold as an administrative fee. A further 3% is deducted
for credit card sales.

STANDBY TICKETS
Even the most successful shows occasionally have seats to fill. The
Applause Society enables productions to gain revenue from these seats
— as well as reach an enthusiastic arts audience — by offering tickets
at a discount to the Society's membership.
HOW IT WORKS :: The Society pays the production a fixed per-ticket rate
for all tickets offered. This price varies according to the nature of
the production but is normally 50% off the highest price tier. The
Society requires at least 10 tickets per performance and requests for
sales should be submitted at least on week prior to the first
performance.
ACCESSIBILITY PROGRAMMES
The Applause Society is committed to lowering the barriers to access
for all theatregoers. People who are deaf, blind or have low vision,
use wheelchairs or, for medical reasons, cannot climb stairs or
require aisle seating, are eligible to receive appropriate assistance
to enjoy their performance. Here’s a list of services currently
available:
Sign Language Interpreting. Professional interpreters, standing in
front of
a side section of the auditorium, provide a translation of
the show in
Malaysian Sign Language.
Preferred Seating. Audiences who use wheelchairs or are able to
transfer from their wheelchairs into aisle seats can obtain the
required locations. Those who are blind or have low vision are able
to order tickets that place them closer to the stage, as well as
secure appropriate seating to accommodate guide dogs.
HOW IT WORKS :: OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) cardholders may register with
The Applause Society to receive the above assistance at no charge.
Tickets should be purchased at least two weeks in advance of the
selected performance in order for the Society to make arrangements.
